Players: all players must be 18 years of age or older. Players can only play on the team they registered for, UNLESS another team is short players, and both teams agree to allow the new player. This is only acceptable in the regular season.
Field Dimensions: the field is in the shape of a triangle. The pitching area is located 25 feet directly in front of homeplate. The distance to 1st and 2nd base is 35 feet from homeplate, on both sides of the pitching area.
Strike Zone: it extends to 1 foot on either side of homeplate, and 1 foot high. There will be a box around the plate (1 foot on all sides) which marks the strike zone. If any part of the ball falls within the zone or hits the line (at or before home plate), then it is a strike.
Pitching/Kicking: pitches must be rolled towards home plate. Pitches may not be bounced, only rolled towards the kicker. Pitches that bounce more than one foot above the ground will be considered an illegal pitch, and thus deemed a ball. All kicks must be made by foot and must occur at or behind home plate. If the kicker does contact the ball in front of home plate it will be considered a foul. The pitcher and fielders must stay behind the pitcher’s mound (and encroachment line) until the ball is kicked. The catcher or kicker is not allowed to cross home plate until the ball is contacted. The ball must be pitched at a reasonable speed. No bounces, spins, or curves. If the pitch is deemed illegal, it's a ball. THERE IS NO "BUNT LINE" FOR FEMALES. ALL PLAYERS MUST KICK THE BALL PAST THE "ENCROACHMENT LINE" (pitchers mound) OR IT'S A BALL. Defensive players can pick up the ball before the line if they choose, before it rolls to a stop. If/when they do, it's a live ball.
Batting Order: will have no more than 2 men kicking in a row. You can kick as many people in the lineup as you want, but never have more than 2 men in a row. A woman may kick twice to accommodate this rule. Keep the same batting order throughout the game.
The Count: players will have a 1 ball/1 strike count on them when they come up to kick. The batter is out after the 3rd strike, including a foul ball that is hit after the 2nd strike. Four balls is a walk. Three strikes is a strike out.
Game Time: all games will have a 45 minute time-limit or a maximum of 7 innings (whichever comes first). All play will stop 45 minutes from the time games begin. An official game is 4 innings (3.5 if the home team leads). No new innings will be started when the game time reaches 40 minutes.
Injured Runner: injured players may receive a pinch runner once they have reached 1st base. If the injury occurs after the runner reaches a bag safely, the pinch runner can be used. The last player out of the proceeding inning will become the pinch runner (girl for girl – guy for guy).
Mercy Rule: 10 run lead after 5 innings.
Leads/Steals: NO LEADS OR STEALING. Runners can leave the base once the ball is kicked by the batter. If a runner leaves early, the ball is dead and the runner is declared out. If this is the 3rd out of the inning the batter will be first up in the next inning.
Forfeit Rule: 10 minutes after game time. If one team has less than the minimum number of players (5 total - 2 females) at ten past the designated start time, it is up to the staff and opposing team as to what is allowable. This decision will ultimately be made by the staff·
Outs: players are considered out by one of the following means: (1) Striking out, (2) A fly ball caught by the defense, including off of walls, ceiling, backboards, players, fixtures, etc, (3) A throw out at one of the lead bases, (4) The runner being tagged by the ball, (5) Any runner who slaps or grabs the ball from the defensive player, (6) A foul out, or (7) A runner being struck by a thrown ball below the head while attempting to advance or return to a base.
Running: There can be up to TWO RUNNERS ON ONE BASE! Runners may lead off of a base if they are holding hands with a player who is on the base (Hand-Holding). They may run on a caught ball (Tag-up) from the held hand position. However, once releasing hands, they must touch a base to be safe (whether it's the next base or former base).
Scoring: every player that crosses home plate scores one run for his/her team. Any ball kicked above a 10 foot line on the wall on the other end of the gym is a "ground-rule" double. Any ball kicked into any basketball net on the other end of the gym is a home run. Any ball that gets stuck in the bleachers, ceiling, wall, fixtures, etc, is a "ground-rule" single.
